How Mateus' gorgeous ceramics are produced

The production of Mateus’ fantastic stoneware combines historical handicraft traditions with modern methods, with this symbiosis giving birth to beautiful and sustainable plates, bowls, and cups. We got to take a peek at how it all goes down at their factory in Portugal!
Handmade ceramics that exude warmth & joy

Mateus was born out of Teresa Lundahl’s desire to combine the best of two worlds: the craftsmanship tradition of her country of birth - Portugal - with the design and fashion influences of her new homeland - Sweden. The result was ceramics of exceptional quality in what is the perfect symbiosis of Southern European and Scandinavian design heritage!

Mateus embodies joie de vivre and warmth, and when you sit down to enjoy a meal with Mateus porcelain on the table, it isn't just your tastebuds that are activated but also your sense of touch and sight. The ceramics are quite simply a tribute to gathering round the table to share a meal and the joy that conversations round a beatifully decorated table evoke.
