Enigma 545 Pendant light, Black

Enigma is a pendant from Louis Poulsen, designed by the Japanese designer Shoichi Uchiyama. Uchiyama introduced a luminaire made of ultra-thin wires in lacquered and brushed aluminium as well as three floating black acrylic screens, which together created the futuristic and mysterious appearance. The ceiling lamp Enigma became a Japanese reinterpretation of the Scandinavian multi-shade system created by Poul Henningsen, which directs most of the light downwards for a smooth and dazzle-free shine. The new luminaire was named Enigma, which means enigmatic, after the thin acrylic screens that seem to float freely in the air when viewed at a distance.
