Artek is celebrating 90 years of iconic design through a series of unique collaborations that reflect the company's original vision - to merge art, design and everyday life. First up is a playful yet timeless collection created with Moomin, which this year celebrates 80 years since the first Moomintroll story was published. Artek + Moomin is a limited edition furniture collection that captures the heart of the Finnish design tradition - where functionality, creativity and the love of the unexpected are at the centre.
Stool 60 Celebration - an icon in a new guise
Alvar Aalto's Stool 60 is one of the most beloved pieces of furniture in design history and a symbol of Finnish design. With its simple, timeless design and versatility, there is always room for one more guest. The Stool 60 Celebration anniversary edition honours the legacy of both Aalto and Tove Jansson through laser-engraved original drawings by Jansson, subtly placed on the seat and legs. The playful line drawings, reminiscent of spontaneous sketches on an old school desk, give the stool a personal and charming character. To enhance its nostalgic look, it has been given a warm, honey-coloured finish.
