The lamp provides a filtered and warm light. It can light down, up and both. The lamp shade can be divided and adjusted so that it is like three lamps in one, both in terms of use and visually. It is like a sculpture, and even nicer than in the pictures. I have it on a fairly high shoe cabinet where it was difficult to find a lamp that could light it without glare. This lamp works well and I'm sure it will fit in many places.
