Astep is a design company founded in 2014 by Italian designer Alessandro Sarfatti. The company integrates the wealth of knowledge and experience that has been in the family for three generations with the latest developments in digital technology.

A family's craftsmanship legacy

In 1939, Alessandro Sarfatti's grandfather, Gino Sarfatti, established Arteluce, a company that led the way in introducing design to the lighting industry. In 1978, Alessandro's father, Riccardo Sarfatti, took it further. Together with Alessandro's mother, he founded the company Luceplan. This company merged design with technology and created a new business model celebrating quality and innovation. Both Arteluce and Luceplan gave rise to one iconic armature after another, characterised not only by their timeless elegance but also by the spirit of evolution.

Astep creates new products for the home - items that give digital technologies a greater and more meaningful place in our daily lives. Honouring the evolution of design, they also reimagine iconic pieces: timeless works by Gino Sarfatti and Vittoriano Viganò, derived from the same optimistic, forward-looking attitude that still inspires today.
