aida
The story behind the Danish design house aida
aida is an experienced Danish design house that creates stoneware, porcelain, glass, cutlery and kitchenware for modern table settings at home. The company was founded more than 60 years ago and is behind a wide range of popular kitchen products and designs, including Poul Pava and Denmark’s absolute best-selling tableware range Atelier, which was launched in 1984 and is still on the market today. aida follows contemporary trends without compromising its own values such as quality, good craftsmanship, functionality and value for money. aida’s latest launches include the elegant, architect-designed dinnerware range ENSO and the stoneware collection RAW, designed in collaboration with Christiane Schaumburg-Müller. RAW is rooted in the old stoneware factory Søholm on Bornholm, whose extensive archive and know-how were acquired by aida in 1996 – and Søholm’s valuable knowledge of traditional craftsmanship will continue to influence several of aida’s shapes and patterns in the future. Today, aida has around 30 employees and is located by a lake near Aarhus.
The popular stoneware series RAW
Collect the handmade and exclusive stoneware pieces from the highly popular RAW series and enjoy endless possibilities to create a beautiful Nordic table setting with raw materials and unique glazes, where no two pieces are alike.
Northern Green stoneware features a deep green hue with small grey, almost shimmering particles, creating a beautiful contrast that remains subtle and perfectly suited to Scandinavian table settings.
ENSO – a symbol of freedom, creativity & elegance
ENSŌ means circle in Japanese and is a symbol of freedom, creativity and elegance. These principles have inspired the award-winning architectural firm C. F. Møller to design ENSŌ in collaboration with aida. ENSŌ is a highly attractive, high-quality tableware range for all occasions thanks to its consistent design and sophisticated aesthetic language. The beauty of the ENSŌ design lies in the repetition of the circle, the balanced proportions and the multifunctionality, where each piece fits perfectly with the others. As a result, the ENSŌ range looks outstandingly elegant on the table while also being highly practical and versatile.
Nordic table setting with the Harvey series
Harvey is the name of the series that evokes the elegant, masculine atmosphere of the 1950s. The fine glassware conveys elegance and good style and fits perfectly into a simple Nordic table setting.
Quadro – perfect for everyday life
The fluted pattern of the Quadro stoneware gives the series a simple and elegant character. The range is robust – it offers a wide selection and is available in both black and white. Perfect for everyday use, as it is almost impossible to scratch.
The finest bone china Passion
Passion is moulded from the finest bone china. The creamy colour and silky-smooth glaze further emphasise the romantic undertones of the range.
Relief – elegant white porcelain
The character of the series lies in its fine white porcelain quality with an elegant relief – the design language makes it appear almost to float across the table. It is double-fired, giving the range a high level of quality. Made from super white porcelain, it is both dishwasher and microwave safe.
