Before making a selection, take a look at the existing theme of the room it’s supposed to go in. What is the motif? Does it convey a rustic feel? Is it designed in a contemporary style, with minimalist, clean lines? What about the colors of the wall, floor and ceiling? Is it a disparate collection of colors, or is there a theme there?
Look at the furnishing. Is the room filled with modern furniture, characterized by metal and sharp angles? Or is it equipped with wooden furniture? What about the curtains? Are they thick, light-blocking curtains, or lightweight and airy?
By identifying the design traits of the room, you will be able to make a better decision on the right type of lamps to buy. Subtle and neutral colors will complement existing themes, while bold colors will dominate the area.

Lamp Shade Materials
Our selection of lamps at RoyalDesign is made using a variety of materials, including plastic, silicone, glass and metal. We even have lamp shades made from jute and linen. Each material fulfils specific design and aesthetic functions. The care required for each type is also different.
For example, Watt & Veke’s 29 cm Hunter Lamp shade offers a gorgeous shiny green finish that will draw all eyes in the room. However, since it’s made from silk and polyester, you should never clean it using a washcloth and soapy spray. You will need to take it apart first, and gently hand wash the fabric.
