Alarm clocks

There was a time when people relied exclusively on the sound of a rooster crow to signal the arrival of daylight. Fortunately, American clockmaker Levi Hutchins invented the modern concept of alarm clocks in 1787. Otherwise, can you imagine how difficult it would be to train roosters to crow at odd hours of the day? Today, alarm clocks have become an essential part of daily life. From analog clocks in the living room to digital alarm clocks on the nightstand, RoyalDesign carries a variety of alarm clocks to make your life a little easier.

Analog Alarm Clocks

Analog alarm clocks have been around forever, and it will never go out of style. The dual or triple hands of the clock provide a source of comfort to many. Owing to the layout, they can be seen from a distance – even if the number on the clock face is not legible. City Hall, the Arne Jacobsen alarm clock, is a perfect example of this. The clock sports a classic design that was originally conceived in 1956 for the Rødovre Town Hall. The black face contrasts heavily with the 12 white bars and 48 white dots, which allows for better optics in low lighting conditions. The clock dial is covered with impact-resistant lens in the event you accidentally knock them down.

Digital Alarm Clocks

The dominant characteristic of digital alarm clocks is the LED numbers. Since the display includes minutes, you will always know the exact time with just a glance regardless of the time of day. More advanced models offer additional information, such as date, ambient temperature and humidity level.
