Tulip guide - the best vases & tips

Tulip season is in full bloom but it's a shame to see them wilt after only a few days. That's why we've put together our best tips on how you can get your tulips to last longer, plus a handy guide to choosing the right vase!
Here's how to make your tulips last longer:

1. Cut them down again, making a 1 cm cut at the base of the stem as soon as you come home. Use a sharp knife and not scissors.

2. Fill the vase generously with cold water and let the tulips sit in their plastic packaging for around an hour.

3. Avoid areas close to radiators or in which the bouquet can be exposed to direct sunlight.

4. Don't place the flowers near to fresh fruit. This is namely because ethylene gas from fruit will cause your flowers to age quicker.

5. Change the water every other day. Tip: add an ice cube once in a while to the vase to keep the water cold.

6. Cut the tulip stems again after a few days.
