String was founded already in 1949 and since then they have produced many iconic, high-quality design furniture - with timelessness, and functionality as key concepts. The idea behind Nisse and Kajsa Strinning's beloved shelving systems was born when Bonnier's public library organised a bookshelf competition where the participants were asked to design an affordable shelf that is easy to ship and assemble.
