Soap dispensers

A soap dispenser is an ingenious device that dispenses soap using a lever pump. It comes in two variations: manual, where users must exert pressure on the handle, and automatic, where soap is dispensed automatically when its sensor is triggered.

Previous

Not too long ago, soap dispensers were considered a rarity, and could only be found in selected establishments like hotels and restaurants. However, in recent years, soap dispensers have become an indispensable part of bathroom accessories at home.

Benefits of Soap Dispensers

Soap dispensers provide numerous benefits to homeowners. The first and most obvious is visual improvements. You will no longer see dingy soapboxes with suds and multiples pieces of broken soap bars. Instead, you will see a sleek-looking dispenser that blends in perfectly with your bathroom or kitchen décor.

The second benefit is they are more hygienic. People at home no longer need to handle soap directly when washing their hands. This is especially true for automatic soap dispenser pumps that rely on built-in sensors to trigger soap release.

Another benefit is cost savings, particularly for homes with large families. Using soap bars or bottled soap liquids is actually very wasteful, and the cost adds up to quite a hefty sum in the long run.

Types of Soap Dispensers

Now that you understand the advantages of using soap dispensers, you may be wondering what type of dispensers you should get. There are basically two types of dispensers you can choose from. Each has its own advantages, as we will elaborate on below.

• Manual Soap Dispenser

Manual soap dispensers operate at the push of a button. When users push a button, a precise amount of soap is released. This type of dispenser does not require batteries and the cost is slightly lower. However, users are exposed to cross-contamination. A good startup model you can test out is the Meraki Silky Mist Hand Soap. The 490 ml unit is not refillable, so keep an eye on the soap level and get a replacement ready.

If you want to start with something a bit more stylish, check out Eva Solo’s Stainless Steel Soap Dispenser. It comes in two beautiful finishes - matte and shiny. The cylindrical-shaped model has no edges, so clean-up is really easy.

• Battery-powered Soap Dispenser, Automatic

Battery-powered dispensers are typically equipped with a motion sensor that triggers the release of a certain amount of soap. They are much more hygienic compared to the manual model and reduce the risk of cross contamination between users. However, do remember to keep spare batteries at home since these dispensers will stop working once their batteries run out.

At RoyalDesign, we also carry elegant wall brackets to help you attach your dispenser to a convenient location on your wall or cabinet. Meraki’s gorgeous polished brass Supply Wall Bracket is a great example of this.
